To gain an impression of the prevalence of  in the languages of the world, we surveyed a controlled sample of 100 languages, based on the 100-language sample used for the World Atlas of Language Structures.

Selecting a language from the drop-down menu provides a report on known examples of inflectional defectiveness in that variety. Where no evidence was found for deponency, only the bibliographical sources that were consulted are listed.
