PhD funding opportunities

Funding for PhD research in Surrey Morphology Group (and the School of Literature and Languages) is available from three main UK sources: TECHNE Studentships from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), SeNSS Studentships from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the University of Surrey Faculty Studentship programme. Funding for completing a Masters followed by a PhD is available in the form of a 1+3 SeNSS Studentship.

Funding is available for both UK and international students. Entry to the PhD programme can happen in Jan, April, July or October  each year, but PhD students funded by the main funding schemes always start in October. You PhD and funding applications need to be completed by the December before that.

This includes the development and exploration of theories of language, the elucidation of the historical development of languages and the production of descriptions of languages or features of languages.
